Tecniplast USA recently hosted a sold-out VISTA Symposium in New Brunswick, New Jersey, bringing together more than 50 attendees and 20+ speakers from around the globe to share ideas, experiences, and perspectives on the future of the vivarium.
The event kicked off with a welcome reception on Monday evening, followed by full days of presentations and discussions on Tuesday and Wednesday. The symposium wrapped up on Thursday with a half-day program.
Tuesday focused on Digital Ventilated Cages (DVC®) and the
growing role of digital technology in the vivarium. Speakers covered a range of topics related to data, animal welfare, research, and facility operations, giving attendees the opportunity to hear how different organizations are using and thinking about digital tools.
On Wednesday, the program shifted to automation, cage wash, and facility operations. One of the highlights of the symposium was a tour of Rutgers University’s newly built vivarium, where attendees were able to see Tecniplast solutions installed throughout the facility.
The Rutgers tour gave the group a closer look at the equipment, technology, and planning behind a modern vivarium. It was also a chance to see many of the solutions discussed during the program in person and continue conversations outside of the meeting room.
Thursday closed out the symposium with sessions focused on change management and New Approach Methodologies (NAMs), bringing another important perspective to the discussions taking place throughout the event.
The program also included informal networking events and activities throughout the symposium, giving attendees additional opportunities to connect, continue conversations from the sessions, and get to know colleagues from across the industry.
While the presentations were a major part of VISTA, the conversations between sessions were just as
valuable. Attendees had plenty of opportunities to connect with peers, ask questions, compare experiences, and hear how other organizations are approaching similar challenges.
