This year’s
Tecniplast Australia was once again honoured to be the Conference Partner, setting the tone with a dynamic and welcoming presence. From showcasing cutting-edge technologies like the new Zephyr Air Handling Unit and the DVC Transit Trolley, to hosting an inclusive and lively conference dinner at Franklin Wharf, the Tecniplast team ensured delegates felt both informed and valued. Our bright and interactive booth was a hub of activity, featuring games, engaging displays, and a standout presentation from Alex Tefay on the benefits of DVC technology, reinforcing our commitment to advancing science through innovation, passion and collaboration.
The conference program was rich with diverse and passionate speakers, featuring researchers, technicians, facility managers and industry leaders from across Australia and New Zealand. Highlights included Dr Alex Kreiss’s compelling presentation on Ethics and Welfare in Devil Facial Tumour Disease, drawing on his PhD work with Tasmanian devils and their immune response to this devastating condition. Dr Abderzak Lettat introduced a novel approach to Sterility and Researcher Protection with Integrated BSC II–Anaesthesia Platform for Rodent Neurosurgery, while Tess Vogts and Emily Duggan from the Translational Research Institute delivered a powerful session on Empowering Staff in Animal Research Facilities. Their insights into workload metrics underscored the importance of supporting the dedicated teams behind every successful research outcome.
Beyond the thought-provoking sessions, the social program added a layer of warmth and fun. Monday evening’s Welcome Reception, hosted by Compath, set the tone for a week of connection, while the ‘Tales of the Deep’ themed ANZLAA Gala Dinner, was a highlight. Helen Heazlewood from the University of Tasmania wowed guests with her handmade decorations, transforming the venue into an aquatic celebration of creativity. For many, the conference felt like a reunion, with laughter from the Tecniplast team and many of the delegates echoing through the hotel long after the final sessions concluded.
