TECNIPLAST 2018 ENVIRONMENTAL POLICY RESULTS CONFIRM OUR LEADERSHIP IN  ENVIRONMENTAL AND SOCIAL SUSTAINABILITY

While the majority of companies are not reacting enough in adopting a Green Strategy, Tecniplast proves to be the best  in class according to the 2018 Environmental  policy results, implementing strong accountability systems, clear policies on environmental management confirming the Award Tecniplast received in 2018 having been recognized as the best company in the lab animal industry for its environmental and social sustainability and sensibility.

Those are the components of Tecniplast’s success which show a strategic vision, with a 360° commitment to providing environmentally friendly options in our product and service portfolio we provide to our customers.

2018 GREEN ARCHITECTURE: A CLEAR ARCHITECTURE

The  2018 Tecniplast Green Architecture was based on the following points:

• Contributing to climate change mitigation as well adoption of sustainable energies
• Fostering sustainable development and efficient management of natural resources
• Contributing to the development of new technologies to reduce the impact of TP products

GREEN OBJECTIVES: SIMPLE, MEASURABLE, WELL DEFINED

Tecniplast identified the following 2018 Objectives:

• Beating plastic waste
• Minimizing impact on climate change
• Ensuring an effective management of waste

GREEN TOOLS:

Tecniplast has improved consistently performances from 2017 to 2018, with impressive results on Co2 footprint, greenhouse gas emissions, use of renewable energy and through a close partnership with suppliers driving sustainability into products and services. Tecniplast identified  a strategic alliance in reaching its objectives: TP Employees. Tecniplast gave employees support, flexibility, tools and responsibility to design an effective 2018 Environment policy.

RESULTS

2018 results:

1. (-18%) waste productions vs 2017 (-56% waste production vs 2015); mainly through a better efficiency in management  of plastic and packaging materials
2. Reduction of undifferentiated Waste, which now represents only 9% of total waste.
3. (- 6%) of Electricity Consumption with a constant if not increasing production
4. Continue analysis of the CO2 Footprint on new products and on existing products with the objective of offering  continuous reduction of CO2 footprint of our products

TECNIPLAST ENVIRONMENT OBJECTIVES FOR 2019

Tecniplast considers the environmental management system based on the use of ISO14001 as one of the most important topics for 2019 too. We have identified the following targets:

• Minimize waste.
• Minimize the use of energies and water
• Minimize releases of air contaminants into the environment.
• Comply with all applicable environmental laws.
• Safeguard the environment for future generations.
• Be a responsible neighbour.

2019 Environmental Policy Related objectives:

• % undifferentiated waste: keep the result achieved (<9%)
• Continue to calculate the Product lifecycle assessment analysis for new products
• Continue with the installation of the analytical detection system of energy consumption.
• Evaluate the possibility of installing a system (air blade or similar) to reduce heat loss due to the transfer of materials between manual and automatic storage;
• Evaluate investment for the purchase of the cardboard converting machine in filling material considering the potential use and the saving deriving from the purchase of the current filling materials.
• In parallel, evaluate, where possible, use of collapsible plastic packaging to replace cardboard.
