Tecniplast Australia Animal Welfare Symposium - May11, 2018

The Tecniplast Australia Animal Welfare Symposium is a collaborative educational event that is run annually in partnership with ANZLAA.

This thought provoking Symposium provides an opportunity for the lab animal community to learn about the latest initiatives and consideration to promote the wellbeing of animals when used for scientific purposes.

Each year the Symposium is held at a different institute, generally a Tecniplast ‘Centre of Excellence’ facility, and showcases the innovations in animal welfare practices and medical research of the host facility as well as incorporating presentations from invited local and international thought leaders into the program.

This year the Animal Welfare Symposium is hosted by the Translational Research Institute and the University of Queensland and includes a pre-symposium program featuring a tour of the large animal facility and the germ free facility.  There is also a social function before the symposium to allow local and interstate participants to network in a fun and informal way.

Participation of the Symposium has increased year on year, this year we are set to hit the 200 delegate mark also thanks to the participation of the world-renown gnotobiotic expert, Associate Professor Betty Theriault, as the key note speaker at the event.
