Safety is not an option!

The AAALAC international position statement on safety requirements indicates that “all the safety features” on equipment used in animal facilities “should be clearly identified and have legible instructional signage located adjacent to or on the safety feature. They should be readily visible and easy to read and comprehend in an emergency situation”. For facilities working towards AAALAC accreditation, Tecniplast has a set of emergency signs available…

…for walk-in cage/rack washers, decontamination chambers and generic emergency buttons. Considering the nature of the applications, these have been fully tested for temperature and chemical resistance to ensure their durability over time and ensure visibility for their entire life span.

This range of emergency signs is just a small example of Tecniplast’s total commitment to safety. As the global leader for the integrated washing and automation solutions in the lab animal field, Tecniplast is designing and manufacturing solutions with a particular attention to risk assessment.

Normative and directives are always hand-in-hand with the engineering principles that are guiding our team of designers. Innovation, high performances, low consumptions and ease of use are our mantra together with the operator’s safety… not only under an ergonomic and allergen exposure points of view but also in term of operational aspects.

Tecniplast IWT washing machines, bedding handling systems and robotics are totally compliant with the relevant international standards requirements for your piece of mind including;

• Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC
• Low Voltage Directive 2006/95/EC
• EMC Directive 2004/108/EC
• Risk assessment and reduction UNI EN ISO 12100:2010
• Electrical equipment CEI EN 60204-1
• Safety on control systems UNI EN ISO 13849-1:2008
• Robot system/cell UNI EN ISO 10218-2:2011

Part of our risk analysis addresses the selection of individual system components, with the utmost attention given to quality, reliability and obviously safety:

  •  Appropriate IP rates for washing equipment (e.g. IP55 electrical box and IP65 sensors as minimum)
  •  Maximum PL (Performance level) required for the access gates to robotic cells (e.g. PLe electromechanic door lock and light curtains protection)
  •  ATEX certified components (e.g. sensors) for bedding handling systems according to the classified zones (IEC 60079-10-2:2009)

These are just examples of standards implemented for the entire IWT portfolio of solutions, because for us, safety is our number one concern. Tecniplast IWT are committed to progress and leading the way through our products.
